Derbyshire County Council – Leading Inclusive Education for the Future

Derbyshire County Council is seeking an experienced and committed SEND Team Manager to lead our dynamic Preparation for Adulthood team. This is a pivotal leadership role within our SEND Statutory Service, focused on delivering high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and young people with complex special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

About the Role
As SEND Team Manager, you will oversee a team of professionals working closely with children, young people, families, early years providers, schools, colleges, and external agencies. You will provide strategic direction, expert guidance, and operational leadership to ensure that services are coordinated, effective, and person-centred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the development, implementation, and review of EHCPs
  • Ensure full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and local authority policies
  • Collaborate with education, health, and social care professionals to deliver integrated support
  • Analyse service data and report to senior leaders and external partners
  • Build strong relationships with families, carers, and advocacy groups
  • Manage resources and budgets to meet needs efficiently
  • Drive continuous improvement through staff development and strategic planning

About You
You’ll bring substantial experience in SEND or a related field, with a strong track record of working in a service-user facing environment. You’ll be confident managing complex caseloads and leading teams, with excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
