Derbyshire County Council is seeking a committed and detail-oriented SEND Case Officer to join our expanding Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) service. This vital role supports the delivery of high-quality statutory services for children and young people with complex SEND, ensuring their needs are met through effective coordination and casework.
About the Role
As a SEND Case Officer, you will work closely with children, young people, and their families, as well as early years providers, schools, colleges, and external agencies. You will play a key role in supporting the statutory SEND process, ensuring that assessments, reviews, and decisions are carried out in line with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
You will be part of one of our three specialist sub-teams:
- Assessment Team
 - Review Team

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage SEND casework, including Annual Reviews and Phase Transfers
 - Ensure statutory processes and timescales are met
 - Liaise with families and professionals to support positive outcomes
 - Maintain accurate records and contribute to budget-aware planning
 - Provide high-quality administrative and professional support
 - Ensure children, young people, and families remain at the heart of all decision-making

About You
You’ll have a sound understanding of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice, along with experience in a customer-facing or service-user environment. You’ll be confident working under pressure, managing competing priorities, and communicating clearly and respectfully with a wide range of stakeholders.
This role does not include line management or direct budget responsibility, but requires strong organisational skills and budget awareness.
