Join Us as a Trainee
We are seeking two full-time (37 hours) trainees, one to enforce food safety and health and safety legal standards and the other in the ICT Support Team. Successful trainees will transition into a permanent role upon completing their training and qualifications. The qualifications will be fully funded by the Council and the trainee salary is competitive, starting at Grade 4 (£26,824 - £28,598) which will increase either by career graded progression or on appointment to a permanent role subject to successful completion of training and relevant qualification.
As a trainee, you will work under supervision and guidance to experience a wide breadth of work that will develop your knowledge, skills, and experience. Officers in the Council are friendly and supportive so any trainee can be assured of a welcoming work environment.

The Council has an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about technology and eager to kickstart their career in IT? Join our dynamic ICT team as a Trainee IT Service Support Officer and gain hands-on experience supporting a wide range of systems and users across the organisation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build a career in IT. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learning how to provide technical support, maintain systems, and deliver excellent customer service. From troubleshooting desktop issues to assisting with server operations and software upgrades, you’ll be exposed to the full spectrum of ICT support.
We require applicants to hold a minimum of 5 GCSE’s Grade C and above or recognised equivalent, including Math’s, English and an IT related subject such as Computer Science or ICT.
You will need to possess the following:
- A keen interest in IT and technology
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
- Basic understanding of computers and software (formal qualifications are a plus but not essential)
- A team player with a positive attitude and customer-focused mindset
Applicants will need to hold a current full UK driving licence and access to transport is desirable.
This trainee post is for about 2 years whilst working alongside the Councils ICT Support Team with the potential for full-time permanent employment for the right candidate at the end of the 2 years training programme, subject to successful completion of the training and attainment of qualifications.
