We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Structures Delivery Manager to lead the delivery of structural asset investment across Derbyshire’s highway network. This is a key leadership role within our Highways Delivery Management team, responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

As Structures Delivery Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering some of Derbyshire’s most critical infrastructure projects.

Your role will be varied, strategic, and hands-on, with responsibilities that include:

  • Leading from the front– Oversee the successful delivery of all commissioned structural projects, ensuring they meet agreed specifications, budgets, and timelines.
  • Driving innovation– Bring best practices from across the construction and public sectors to challenge conventional methods and inspire smarter, more efficient delivery.
  • Managing people and partnerships– Lead a team of delivery officers and collaborate with internal colleagues, contractors, and external agencies to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Owning the process– From procurement strategy to contract management (including NEC contracts), you’ll ensure every step is compliant, cost-effective, and performance-driven.
  • Championing safety and sustainability– Embed a culture of safety and carbon-conscious delivery, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 and promoting environmental responsibility.
  • Keeping stakeholders informed– Maintain clear, timely communication with communities, elected members, and partners before, during, and after works take place.
  • Monitoring performance– Track progress, manage risk, and ensure robust reporting and financial forecasting across all projects.
  • Solving problems– Be the go-to expert for resolving complex delivery challenges and escalating issues when needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • A relevant professional qualification plus significant experience in a similar work environment;
    OR
    Extensive highways-related experience backed by evidence of appropriate specialist knowledge.
  • Substantial managerial experience in a directly related field.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary infrastructure projects or maintenance tasks.
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 regulations and experience acting as Principal Designer.
  • Proven expertise in project and programme management, procurement, and NEC contract administration.
  • High level of numeracy and analytical skills, including financial scenario planning.

Desirable:

  • Completion of management or leadership training.
  • NEC Accreditation.
  • Enhanced understanding of highway structures.
