We’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant (Capital & Treasury) to lead specialist financial activity across capital accounting, treasury management, and statutory reporting.

The Role

You’ll provide expert financial and technical advice on complex areas including capital programmes, fixed assets, and treasury management. You’ll lead the Capital & Treasury team, support financial planning and audit processes, and ensure strong financial control and compliance across the Council.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Capital & Treasury Accounting team
  • Oversee capital accounting, fixed assets, and financial records
  • Manage treasury activities, including investments, borrowing, and banking
  • Support budget setting, forecasts, and the Medium-Term Financial Plan
  • Contribute to year-end accounts and audit processes
  • Ensure robust financial controls, reconciliations, and compliance
  • Produce statutory reports and provide expert financial advice to stakeholders

About You

  • CCAB/CIMA qualified with substantial experience
  • Strong experience in capital accounting and/or treasury management
  • Proven leadership experience in a complex organisation
  • Excellent analytical and financial modelling skills
  • Confident communicator, able to advise and influence senior stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and controls

Desirable: Local government finance experience.
