Join a team changing the story for young people

Opening September 2026, Silver Linings Therapeutic School is a new specialist setting supporting pupils aged 11–16 with social, emotional and mental health needs, trauma backgrounds and neurodiversity.

Located in NG16 6NA, our school offers a therapeutic, relationship-based approach to education, where learning is built on safety, connection and trust.

We believe young people thrive when they are truly understood. That is why therapy is embedded across the entire school experience, not delivered separately.

We offer:

  • Small class sizes
  • Therapeutic practice embedded in all learning
  • Training in trauma-informed approaches
  • Opportunity to help shape a brand-new school
  • Strong staff wellbeing focus
  • Staff lunch provided
  • Staff parking
  • Opportunities for progression as the school grows

If you want to work somewhere where relationships matter more than routines, Silver Linings could be the place for you.

ECTs welcome to apply

Start: September 2026

About the Role

At Silver Linings, teaching looks different. Our teachers focus on connection before curriculum, creating environments where young people feel safe enough to re-engage with learning.

We are looking for passionate teachers who believe education should restore confidence, rebuild trust and unlock potential. You will teach in small classes, supported by a therapeutic team and highly skilled teaching assistants.

We are particularly looking for teachers who:

  • Understand trauma-informed practice
  • Are relational and reflective
  • Can adapt learning to meet emotional as well as academic needs
  • Want to be part of building a new school culture

This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new therapeutic school from the very beginning.

Why Work at Silver Linings?

This is more than a job. It is an opportunity to help young people rewrite their story. Many of our pupils have struggled in traditional education. With the right relationships and support, they can thrive. We are building a team who believe in:

  • Compassion
  • Connection
  • Curiosity
  • The power of education to heal

Our teachers will be responsible for a class of 5 children with additional support on average 3 teaching assistants, to allow delivery of the curriculum in a flexible and creative manner, with the aim of renewing emotional trust in education and removing the barriers to learning.

Contact Cate Tumman at cate@silverliningsed.co.uk for an application pack.

This vacancy may close earlier than the advertised date if we receive enough suitable applications, so early application is encouraged.
