Advisory Teacher for Vision Impairment
The Inclusion Support Advisory Service is seeking an enthusiastic Teacher for Vision Impairment. You will play a key role in enabling learners to access, progress, and be included in mainstream settings across Derbyshire.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference for children and young people, in a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and empower school-based professionals to meet the needs of learners with vision impairment.
- Model best practice and share impactful resources, approaches, and strategies.
- Facilitate joint working with families, partners, and agencies to secure positive outcomes.
- Advise on specialist equipment and effective interventions.
- Deliver training and support to school staff.
- Maintain high-quality records and prepare written visit reports.
- Promote inclusive education in line with the SEND Code of Practice and Derbyshire Graduated Response.
- Contribute to service development and policy.
- Ensure safeguarding and equality are at the heart of your practice.
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher for Visual Impairment.
- Proven experience in classroom teaching (mainstream or specialist provision).
- Experience supporting visually impaired children and young people.
- Ability to deliver successful interventions and training.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
- Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and equality.
Desirable:
- Level 2 qualification in Braille (or willingness to undertake).
- Advanced qualification in SEND.
- Experience in advisory/outreach work and professional development for school staff.
