Required for January 2026 (or as soon as candidates are available)
Salary Range L4 - L8
Due to our Deputy Headteacher moving on to a Headship the Governors are seeking to appoint a passionate, forward-thinking Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo to join us to continue with our school’s journey.
At Chinley Primary the ethos of ‘Aiming High’ underpins everything we do. We believe that every member of our school community should have the highest expectations of themselves and of each other. We believe in valuing every child’s uniqueness and supporting every child to fulfil their potential through placing high value on relationships, aspirations and a love of learning.
We are looking for an outstanding teacher with strong, dynamic leadership skills, someone who can both challenge and inspire. You will work alongside our Headteacher and our committed, caring and hardworking team to continue driving school improvement, raising aspirations and securing the best possible outcomes for every pupil.
As Deputy Head and SENDCo this is a pivotal role. It will require ambition, resilience and a readiness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. The right candidate will be a role model of the highest calibre: someone who leads with integrity, champions well-being and models the very best of classroom practice.
If you believe in empowering others, nurturing potential and building a future where every child matters, we would love to hear from you.
We are looking for a strong, dynamic and inspirational leader who:
- Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with consistently high expectations for all pupils.
- Has a proven track record as a SENDCo acting as an advocate for pupils and securing their best outcomes.
- Has proven leadership, management and interpersonal skills, inspiring confidence and excellence in others.
- Is an independent thinker; looks for creative and innovative solutions and is confident in taking risks, learning from every opportunity.
- Has a sound and confident understanding of safeguarding procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of all.
- Has the ambition, resilience and commitment to contribute to the strategic leadership of our school.
- Will lead by example, inspiring, motivating, challenging and supporting colleagues to further improve teaching, learning and pastoral care.
- Will champion and develop our respectful, responsible and reflective school ethos.
- Has experience of restorative behaviour management, with a focus on relationships and personal growth.
In return, we offer:
- A fantastic school community with children who are eager to learn, reflect and grow.
- A commitment to ensuring leaders have significant non-contact time to ensure they can complete their leadership work as effectively as possible.
- A highly supportive Governing Board, committed to securing a bright future for our whole school community.
- A strong culture of professional development, recognising that investment in our staff is an investment in school improvement for pupils.
- Opportunities to work closely with colleagues across our local cluster who share our vision and high aspirations.
- A nurturing, hardworking and talented team who are dedicated to making a real difference.
- A Governor led staff engagement programme which supports staff well-being, provides a staff voice and aims to help manage workload.
- Subsidised wraparound childcare for staff with children attending our school.
At Chinley Primary School, we believe that leadership is about passion and ambition for everyone. If you are of that mind, we would love to hear from you.

The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification and will be subject to pre-employment checks including a health check, and enhanced DBS and satisfactory references. Please refer to the school website for the safeguarding policy.
The school will carry out an online search as part of their due diligence for all shortlisted candidates in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024 (para 221).
