At Langley Mill Infant School we have a great opportunity for someone to become an Assistant Headteacher and to be the driving force behind SEND and Inclusion from April 2026. You will be a key member of the senior leadership team, ensuring SEND and Inclusion are at the heart of everything we do.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced SENDCo, applications are welcomed from holders of the National Award for SEN Coordination, who are ready for the next step in their journey and become a senior leader. We would like someone who can share their expertise across the school. We are looking for an individual who can establish and develop excellent relationships with all stakeholders.

We are keen for someone new to join us and continue the wonderful work we currently do for inclusion but also share new, fresh ideas around SEND and Inclusion.

The role will entail some cover in classes or interventions and some time for leadership and SENDCo time. We are a small school but value the importance of quality time to fulfil the role which is why we have put so much time for leadership and SENDCo. 

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Strong strategic leadership and management skills, with proven experience in leading and coordinating effective and innovative practice.
  • Be an outstanding teacher, who has high expectations and a passion for raising standards.
  • Forward thinking with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Has SENDCo leadership experience, coordinating individual SEND targets and target reviews, applying for EHCPs and other forms of funding.
  • Is an excellent, creative classroom practitioner with high expectations.
  • Is passionate about enabling every child to fulfil their full potential.
  • Have a sound understanding of different behaviour strategies and research and be able to lead on behaviour to support all staff.
  • An understanding of attendance policies and how to support an attendance team.
