We are inviting applications for an Information & Engagement Support Officer post, based within the Information & Engagement Team, Corporate & Legal Services Directorate.

Responsibilities of the Information & Engagement Team include information management which includes the answering of requests for information under different legislations such as Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations and UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The purpose of this role is primarily to support the Information and Engagement Officer with the administration of information requests. This is a post suited to a fast learner or recent graduate who is computer literate and has a good understanding of working with digital information.

The successful candidate needs to be an organised individual who enjoys multitasking and variety in their role. The successful applicant will also assist, where necessary, in equalities, consultation and engagement matters.

This role offers an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in information access and data protection compliance. If you are a talented in handling and processing information, then this is the role for you.

To be successful, you will need:

  • A good standard of numeracy and literacy skills and use of English language to fulfil job role; good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication for dealing with officers, members, customers, public and external organisations.
  • Basic knowledge of Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004, UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Practical experience in dealing with correspondence, interpreting information, and presenting findings in appropriate formats such as Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as the maintenance of electronic records.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and comply with legislative guidance, processes, and procedures.
  • To be a positive, enthusiastic individual who understands the importance of always using tact and discretion to maintain confidentiality.

     The post is suited to agile working e.g., home, home/office subject to operational requirements.

    You will be asked to complete a test as part of the interview process.
