An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Strategy and Policy Team for a dynamic and committed individual to support the Council’s performance management and strategic planning.
You will analyse, interpret, visualise, report and present information and data to assist the council to understand its performance and to inform strategic planning. Maintenance and development of the Council’s performance reporting will also be a key part of the role.
You will be joining an eager and ambitious team at a time when corporate performance reporting is being developed to ensure the Council has the right information to understand service performance, drive strategic planning and identifies opportunities for improvements and efficiencies. As such you will have the opportunity to really make a difference within an organisation that is supportive and keen to facilitate your development.
What will I be doing:
Production of regular performance and risk reports, including combining information with budget monitoring data.
- Provision of analysis, interpretation and visualisation of data, ensuring accuracy with appropriate context and relevant comparisons.
- Maintenance and development of reporting against the Council Plan to meet the requirements of the council and users.
- Support the development of wider performance reporting to ensure key services are monitored.
- Develop the use of Power BI for performance reporting.
- Support for the review of performance and risk by senior management teams through preparation of presentations and briefings.
- Support for the development of Strategic Plans and liaison across the Council to provide reports on progress.

What skills and experience do you need to have:
Experience of understanding and assessing performance information
- Experience of developing performance reporting and visualisation
- Enthusiastic and versatile with the ability to work well individually and as part of a team
- Confident to work under pressure and manage several complex tasks at once
- Displaying a high level of tact, diplomacy, drive and enthusiasm
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
- Educated to HND or equivalent or have extensive experience in a relevant field with knowledge of legislation and current initiatives affecting local government.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with attention to detail
- Skills to utilise the Microsoft Office suite of software and Power BI

Our Strategy team is contractually based in Matlock, Derbyshire, but as part of our Modern Ways of Working programme we are currently working on a hybrid basis which includes regular days in the office. There'll be an opportunity to discuss future working arrangements at interview.
