South Derbyshire’s Operational Services team are looking to appoint a full-time Operational Services Manager to manage their recycling collections, waste collections, grounds maintenance, street cleansing and fleet team. Based at the Council’s Depot at Boardman Road, Swadlincote. Operational Services is undergoing a rapid change in terms of modernisation and we’re looking for someone to support and lead our journey. 

The post will involve monitoring work schedules for Waste Collection, Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance teams, evaluating their effectiveness and implementing work procedures and processes to enhance the delivery of the service. The post holder will be an effective manager, skilled in the deployment and development of the workforce in line with employment procedure and operational requirements. The Councils fleet must operate to legislative compliance whilst ensuring that operational capacity is maintained with suitable and timely replacements. The postholder will support the introduction of a new fleet including electric LGV’s and develop the processes for a new digital management system. 

Applicants must hold an International Transport Manager CPC and have demonstrable management experience in managing large out based teams in a local authority setting or similar discipline.
