We are looking to appoint a part time gravedigger to our Bereavement Services team.
Working alongside the Cemeteries Team in the 4 cemeteries of Chesterfield (Boythorpe, Brimington, Staveley and Spital), we need a reliable and hard-working individual to perform varied duties including the careful operation of mowing machines, powered hand tools, and plant such as strimmer’s.
You must be able to deal tactfully and sympathetically with bereaved people and have the upmost consideration for the environment in which you are working, and you must be able to work as part of a team and on your own with the ability to use your own initiative and work to deadlines.
The successful candidate must have an understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act and should have at least 2 years experience of working in cemeteries and/or grounds maintenance. Some training can be provided.
This role involves regular manual labour and outdoor work. The successful applicant must be able to safely perform physically demanding tasks, including digging graves by hand, operating grounds maintenance machinery, manual handling, and standing, walking, and working on their feet for extended periods.
This vacancy is 18 hours and 30 minutes per week and times and days of working are not set until the candidate is fully qualified and capable of performing their duties.
It is essential that the successful candidate holds a full driving licence.
