Are you passionate about bringing people together through memorable, well-run events?
We have an exciting opportunity for an Events & Arts Officer to join our Communities Team and play an important role in shaping and delivering events across the Council.
Working closely with the Events and Arts Manager, you will assist in the planning, organisation, administration to deliver a varied programme of events that are part of our busy annual calendar. This includes much-loved events such as the Festival of Leisure, Christmas Lights Switch On, Music in the Park and a range of Civic events.
This is a varied, rewarding and creative role. You will be self-motivated, highly organised and confident in managing your own workload, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines and support several events at different stages of planning and delivery.
Building strong relationships is central to the success of our events. You will work with colleagues, partners, community groups, businesses and other stakeholders; therefore, experience of stakeholder management and community engagement would be ideal.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required, alongside a strong commitment to customer service, enabling you to build positive relationships and collaborate effectively to deliver high quality events.
You will bring experience or a strong understanding of working within the arts sector, supporting the delivery and ongoing development of the Council’s Arts Strategy.
You will have proven experience in creatively marketing events, including designing and producing engaging promotional materials and effectively using social media platforms to connect with communities and promote activities. You will demonstrate a keen eye for detail alongside a strong sense of creativity.
We are looking for someone who is either qualified in event management or has relevant knowledge and experience in developing, project managing and supporting events.
This position is initially being offered on a temporary basis. Subject to organisational requirements and funding, there may be an opportunity for the role to become permanent in the future.
The usual working pattern is 9.00am to 5.00pm, although the nature of event delivery means you will also support and run events during evenings and weekends. The Flexible Hours Working Scheme applies to this post, and access to a car is required.
