We are looking to recruit 2 practicing Solicitors, Barristers or Chartered Legal Executives to provide legal advice, support and assistance to council officers and members on contentious and regulatory functions including representation at court, inquiries, public tribunals and other forums in the areas of Housing, Licensing, Information Assurance, Environmental Law and Planning. 

The successful candidate will also support and advise council officers and members in respect of Data Protection and Freedom of Information as well as advising at planning and licensing committees, providing a comprehensive legal service to the Council at all times. The post holder will undertake the full range of civil and criminal litigation and regulatory law work including complex drafting, conducting hearings and appearing as an advocate on behalf of the Council. Substantial experience of complex legal case work, legislation and procedure in the magistrates and civil courts is essential for this role along with excellent communication skills.
