About the Role:

As a Principal Infrastructure Engineer, you will:

  • Help develop strategic and tactical engineering roadmaps.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Collaborate with solutions architects to operationalise designs.
  • Lead teams in building and maintaining enterprise IT solutions.
  • Manage the on premise and cloud infrastructures.
  • Manage and maintain the M365 tenants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Digital infrastructure operations, including servers, end user compute, networks (LAN & WAN), M365, Azure tenants, EntraID tenants and data centres.
  • Ensure service delivery aligns with Digital strategy and policies.
  • Help shape the Council’s Digital technical architecture roadmap.
  • Lead and mentor our Digital professional teams.
  • Ensure IT service security and high availability.
  • Help manage the Digital infrastructure budgets.
  • Provide technical guidance to Digital staff and end-users.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience managing local and cloud enterprise infrastructure in a large organisation.
  • Success in managing large Digital projects and leading and mentoring teams.
  • Demonstrate experience in asset management, capacity management, financial and incident management.
  • Strong interpersonal, advisory, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant IT qualifications, such as ITIL 4 Foundation and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert.
