Derbyshire County Council is undergoing a significant transformation of its corporate systems, with SAP at the heart of how we support our workforce and deliver services to residents. We are looking for an experienced HR Systems Developer to join our SAP Centre of Excellence and play a key role in the development, enhancement and support of our SAP HR solutions.

This role will focus on the technical development and configuration of SAP HR systems, supporting both day-to-day operations and major transformation initiatives, including the ongoing rollout and optimisation of SAP SuccessFactors and integration with core SAP S/4HANA systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop and support SAP HR solutions, ensuring they are robust, secure and aligned to business needs
  • Configure and enhance SAP SuccessFactors modules (e.g. Employee Central, Employee Central Payroll Recruiting, Onboarding)
  • Develop and support integrations between SAP SuccessFactors, SAP S/4HANA and third‑party systems
  • Work closely with HR, Payroll and Digital colleagues to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions
  • Support testing, release management and deployment of system enhancements
  • Investigate and resolve system issues, providing support where required
  • Contribute to system documentation, technical standards and continuous improvement initiatives

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive SAP professional.

You should have:

  • Proven experience developing and supporting SAP HR systems, ideally within a complex organisation
  • Strong knowledge of SAP SuccessFactors and its integration with SAP ERP / S/4HANA
  • Experience with SAP integration technologies (e.g. SAP BTP, CPI, APIs, data interfaces)
  • Technical development experience (e.g. ABAP, reporting, enhancements, workflows or extensions)
  • An understanding of HR and payroll business processes
  • The ability to work collaboratively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

Experience in the public sector or large-scale transformation programmes would be an advantage.
