This is an exciting opportunity to join South Derbyshire District Council’s Private Sector Housing team in this new role of Private Sector Housing Officer. You will deliver a high quality, responsive private sector housing service, implementing the Renters Rights Act and ensuring homes are safe and healthy to live in for our residents.
The role:
Your responsibilities will include:
- Inspecting private sector properties to assess housing conditions and identify hazards using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and taking appropriate action to remedy hazards
- Licensing Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs)
- Working with residents, landlords, colleagues and partners to achieve positive outcomes
About You:
You will bring experience in regulatory housing enforcement together with a commitment to improving standards for residents.
We are looking for someone with:
- A relevant degree in Building and Construction, Construction Management, Surveying with significant experience in Private Sector Housing enforcement regulation; and
- Knowledge and experience of the Housing Act 2004, the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), and local authorities’ regulatory and enforcement powers in relation to HMOs and private sector housing conditions.
