Place, Highways Department seek to recruit a highly motivated individual to work as Hire Desk Operative in Highways Operations.

The role of the Hire Desk Operative is to provide a high quality and effective support service to operational managers and supply chain partners, coordinating hire and off-hire activities across the service whilst ensuring compliance with EU, National and Local Authority procurement and financial regulations.

Proven literacy and numeracy skills are essential as is finance or operational experience and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You should be self-motivated and willing to adopt a flexible approach to meet priorities and deadlines. Well-developed IT skills and an excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite are required.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication, and interpersonal skills and be capable of dealing with contacts at all levels including senior managers and leaders, other Council departments, internal and external supply chain partners, operational, business and commercial colleagues.  They will have a can do attitude, adopt a continuous improvement approach to processes and demonstrate an ability to take initiative in the development of the hire desk function.
