Our very effective and supportive Governing body are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and caring KS2 Teaching and Learning Assistant to join our school team from September (expected to be based in Y5 this year).

We are looking for a conscientious and committed professional that believes all children can achieve high standards and therefore demonstrates consistently high expectations of all pupils in all aspects of school life.

The contract is to begin ideally on Monday 3 November, subject to relevant checks being completed, although we appreciate some applicants may have to serve 4 weeks’ notice in current roles so we can be flexible to allow notice to be worked.

Working hours are 33 hours 30 minutes per week, term time only, following Derbyshire term dates. This is 8.30am - 3.30pm everyday with a 30 minute lunch break. On Wednesdays, the finish time is 4.30pm to enable attendance at the Key Stage meeting.

As we are so close to the Nottinghamshire border, candidates need to be aware that holidays for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire sometimes differ quite significantly so you may need to consider this if you have children attending Nottinghamshire schools.

Duties will include general classroom support for all pupils, facilitating class teaching as well as individual and small group interventions for pupils requiring additional help, including working with children with a range of Special Educational Needs. The successful candidate must have the ability to work in close partnership with the Class Teacher. Understanding of the KS2 curriculum, vocabulary and different approaches as well as a good understanding of Statutory assessments for KS2 pupils is essential. Please see the person specification for the full requirements of the post.

We pride ourselves at Anthony Bek (Ofsted ‘Good’ 2022) as always being described as a very warm and welcoming school with many unique attributes, such as our rewards scheme or enrichment offer, and we are fortunate to have lots of outdoor space and facilities. Pupils of Anthony Bek take pride in their work and most demonstrate very effective learning behaviours. Our staff team work closely together, sharing ideas and resources and are a family both in and out of school.

Visits to the school and school website (www.anthonybek.derbyshire.sch.uk) are recommended and warmly welcomed. Please contact the school office to make an appointment on 01623 810355.

If you require any further information, please ask for Mrs. Donna-Marie Johnson (Headteacher) or e-mail headteacher@anthonybek.derbyshire.sch.uk

Interviews will take place on Thursday 16 October 2025 so please ensure you would be available to interview on this date before applying. Candidates will be informed if they are being invited to interview on the morning of Monday 13 October 2025.

Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
