The Governors of Swanwick School & Sports College are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils with special educational needs predominantly in our Primary department
The post holder should be prepared to work within all areas of our school as required.
The post holder will demonstrate essential professional characteristics, and in particular will:
- Have an understanding of how children with Special Needs and complex behaviour learn
- Work in a team to manage pupil behaviour effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to pupils’ needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
Commitment to improving the educational achievement of children
- Provide support to individuals or groups to enable them to access their learning using a range of specialist pedagogical specialist approaches including the use of sign, augmented communication and intensive interaction
- Assist pupils to overcome their social and emotional barriers to learning working under the direction of the class teacher or STLA to support pupils in attaining learning objective
- Write quality annotation to support the assessment of pupils attaining learning objective
- Adapt learning activities appropriately
- Inspire trust and confidence in pupils and colleagues
- Build team commitment with colleagues
- Demonstrate empathy with and an appreciation of the needs of pupils
- Provide additional support with physical activities at break and lunch times
- Be committed to making a real difference to the lives of young people with special educational needs and their families/carers
- Be able to offer skills and experience to add to our curriculum
- Able to work across Key Stages 1, 2, 3 or 4 as required
- Able to assist pupils in managing personal care
