Technical Assistant (Trees and Woodlands)
Do you love trees, maps, and making a difference to our environment?
We’re looking for a curious, committed, and detail-loving individual to join our Arboriculture team as a Technical Assistant. This is your chance to work to protect Derbyshire’s trees and wooded landscapes - supporting the health of our trees, tackling ash dieback, and helping communities care for their green spaces.
You’ll be part of a go-to team for technical support: from mapping and surveys to liaising with landowners, issuing notices, and helping us respond to tree safety issues. You’ll work closely with our Arboriculturist and a wide range of partners both in the council and beyond.
What’s in it for you?
- An office-based role that supports some of Derbyshire’s most beautiful places
- The chance to learn from experienced professionals and grow your knowledge of arboriculture and forestry
- A meaningful job that supports biodiversity, public safety, and community wellbeing
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a head for detail
- Can work with data and maps; has experience of current office procedures; and may have experience of using GIS
- Is ready to learn, contribute, and get stuck in
Whether you’re starting out in arboriculture, coming from a technical background, or just love trees and want to make a difference - this could be your perfect next step.
