An exciting opportunity has arisen within Children’s Services for dynamic and committed individuals to play a role in Children’s Social Care.

The role available is a Family Time Assistant role, which is key in supporting children to maintain contact with their family as part of any legal proceedings.

This role is full time 37.00 hour per week, Monday to Friday. Part time hours will not be considered for this role.

This position is based at Rink House, Swadlincote supporting South Derbyshire & South Dales Locality.

You will work across the locality, which includes across Derbyshire and further afield as needed (as children may be placed outside of Derbyshire) delivering Family Time sessions in a range of council and community venues.

What will I be doing:

  • Driving children to and from Family Time.
  • Making observations of parent and child interaction within Family Time.
  • Ensuring the health and safety of children within Family Time.
  • Maintaining records on electronic systems.
  • Maintaining communication with locality Social Workers and Practice Supervisors.

Core working times are generally 09.00am to 17.00pm, Monday to Friday. However, for this role you may be required to travel to a venue prior to 9am or return possible after 17.00pm.

Derbyshire have a flexible working scheme which your role will be part of which is from 07.00am to 19.00pm.

What skills and experience do you need to have:

  • Be enthusiastic, versatile and self-motivated with the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Experience of working/caring for others. It is desirable to have experience of working with children for this role including Level 2 Maths and English as identified in the job description.
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be able to manage one’s own time and have good organisational skills
  • Have good IT skills
  • Understand the need for confidentiality
