The Commissioning and Contracts Support Officer role provides and supports robust planning, commissioning, contract management, and continuous service improvement by working collaboratively with stakeholders across the Local Authority, Children’s Trust partners and the wider community to secure effective, safe and high-quality services for children, young people and their families.

A key aspect of this role is supporting Step Up – Derbyshire County Council’s Supported accommodation service through effective contract management and ongoing quality assurance. This includes ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, providing financial oversight and analysis, undertaking data analysis, and supporting the delivery of high-quality provision, all of which contribute to achieving positive outcomes for young people.

The role also contributes to the effective operation and ongoing development of the D2N2 framework of Supported Accommodation providers. This includes supporting placement sufficiency, data monitoring, overseeing provider performance through contract management arrangements, and promoting consistency and quality across the D2N2 framework.

More broadly, the post provides an exciting opportunity to support commissioning activities that shape services and improve outcomes for young people across Derbyshire, whilst ensuring alignment with strategic priorities. This includes supporting the delivery of key priorities and targets set out in the Children’s and Young People’s Plan and other relevant strategies.

In addition, the role plays an important part in strengthening the home finding process for young people by working closely with providers, social care teams and commissioning colleagues to secure timely, appropriate and cost-effective homes that meet the individual needs of children and young people, particularly those requiring supported accommodation.

There are three other Commissioning and Contracts Support Officers within the Commissioning Service, offering opportunities to gain wider experience across different areas. The role will involve supporting other service areas as required to ensure service priorities are met.
