This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our advocacy service in Derbyshire.

The role will involve providing face-to-face support with people and supporting people at meetings with professionals. Our Independent Advocates help people to:

  • Access and understand information.
  • Make decisions.
  • Speak up for themselves (or speak up for them if they cannot)
  • Uphold their rights.
  • Be at the centre of their care and support.

For people who lack the capacity to make specific decisions, you will be obtaining and sharing their views with health or social care professionals involved in making best-interest decisions on their behalf.

Your role will include representing people who are subject to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. You will also be supporting people through safeguarding processes.

This role includes supporting people of all ages. You will be working with people with dementia, people with learning disabilities, autistic people, people with physical and sensory impairment, people with an acquired brain injury and those with a mental health need.

You will be working with people who live in care settings and in their own homes and people who are in mental health units.

You will be supporting people who have a statutory right to an advocate and other people who will benefit from the support of an advocate.

We offer flexible working hours Monday to Friday. There is no shift work and we do not usually work evenings or weekends. Please note, this role does not involve supporting people with their personal care. This role is to support people through health and social care processes, to help them to participate and have a voice.

You are advised to read about the different advocacy types on Cloverleaf Advocacy Website.
