South Derbyshire District Council is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to begin your career as an Environmental Health Practitioner.
As part of this role, you will study towards an Environmental Health (Apprenticeship) BSc (Honours) degree while gaining valuable practical experience across a wide range of Environmental Health disciplines.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to become a qualified Environmental Health Practitioner. You will gain hands-on experience in areas including:
- Food safety
- Health and safety at work
- Public health
- Private water supplies
- Housing standards
- Environmental protection
Working alongside experienced professionals, you will support the delivery of services that help protect and improve the health, safety and wellbeing of our communities.
Due to the nature of the post, appointment will be conditional upon successful acceptance onto the Environmental Health degree programme. Full support will be provided throughout the university application process, including liaison with the relevant institution where required.

As part of your employment, you will be required to study for and complete the Environmental Health Practitioner Apprenticeship. This is a career graded post and will be subject to completion of the qualification and an assessment of your competency to carryout this role.
