Are you passionate about promoting the attractions of South Derbyshire and the National Forest?
South Derbyshire District Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Visitor Information Assistant to join our Visitor Information Service and help grow the visitor economy of South Derbyshire and the National Forest.
Tourism plays an increasingly important role in South Derbyshire’s economy, supporting businesses, town centres and rural communities. Around one third of the National Forest lies within the district, attracting more than 8 million visitors each year. This is an exciting opportunity to help showcase the area and create memorable visitor experiences.
You’ll work with visitor economy businesses, including event organisers, accommodation providers, travel companies, leisure and retail enterprises to provide information to residents and visitors, including on local attractions, events, transport, places to stay, shop, walk, cycle, eat and drink.
What you’ll do
- Promote South Derbyshire and the National Forest through the Visit South Derbyshire website, social media and printed materials.
- Respond to and generate enquiries from residents, visitors and potential visitors.
- Liaise with visitor businesses and organisations, to research and present visitor information.
What we’re looking for:
- A proactive, customer focused individual with excellent communication skills, both face to face and online.
- Strong knowledge of South Derbyshire, the National Forest and the wider Derbyshire area and their attractions.
- Confidence using IT systems, social media platforms, website content management systems and graphic design tools, such as Canva.
- Experience or interest in tourism, leisure and local culture.
- Someone who shares the Council’s values and commitment to excellent customer service.
You will be required to work weekends and occasional evenings and Bank Holidays on a rota basis.
Apply now and help grow the visitor economy of South Derbyshire and the National Forest!
