An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Business Services Team for committed and flexible individuals to provide efficient and effective administrative support to the Virtual School Team.
You will be joining a friendly team of experienced Business Services Assistants. The role is varied, fast-paced and requires the ability to work as part of a team to meet deadlines.
What does a Business Services Assistant in the Virtual School Team do?
- You will become the key contact for the Virtual School Helpline and designated Mailbox to support Schools, Foster Carers and Social Workers. Ensuring you provide an adaptable and professional approach when handling calls and correspondence.
- You will be responsible for the complete administration and bookings for Designated Teacher (DT’s) Network events, requiring liaison and communication with Schools and DT’s.
- You will have experience in using a variety of systems and work closely with the Personal Education Plan (PEP) Administrator for data entry tasks, data maintenance and integrity, along with supporting the Project Leader on a variety of exciting projects.
- You will support with purchasing goods and/or services for the service using DCC’s online purchase order requisition form to obtain relevant authorisation to enable orders to be raised in line with Financial Regulations.
- You will liaise with finance thematic team colleagues to ensure orders are placed and invoices are processed and paid all in a timely manner.
- You will undertake a full induction with continued training and support to enable you to undertake the position.
Working arrangements in the Virtual School Team
The team is based at County Hall, Matlock. DE4 3AG.
This is a hybrid role and may require you to attend the office for a minimum of one day per week. Weekly arrangements may vary, and flexibility to work in the office when required is essential.
Our normal working hours are between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
Flexible working is available from 7am and flexibility can be considered with prior agreement.

- Someone who can provide a timely and confident response to professionals and clients via the telephone and other communication methods.
- Confident in using ICT and bespoke systems.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to our service changes.
- Ability to work as part of a team undertaking a wide range of administrative duties.
- Experience of working in a busy office environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Ability to interpret information and analyse data.
- Be able to assist and support with streamlining processes.
- Have an understanding of confidentiality, GDPR and Data Protection.
- Previous financial experience would be beneficial.
- Enthusiasm and transferable skills.
