Come and join us as we build a new ‘One Council’ centralised Business Services, with a vision to create efficient, effective and consistent business processes and administrative support. An exciting opportunity has arisen for Business Services support within the Commissioning team.
The role is varied, fast-paced and the ability to work as part of a team and meet deadlines is essential.
The Business Services Assistant (BSA) role provides comprehensive administrative support to the Commissioning Service area and direct support to the Commissioning Managers and Commissioning and Contract Support Officers. This BSA role provides a broad range of support activities in addition to having key task responsibilities.
The Commissioning and Contract Support section is required to:
- Ensure quality external Residential and Fostering placements are secured for children and young people in care of the local authority.
- Prepare contractual documentation in relation to external placements made by the Authority as a legal requirement, relating to:
- Children in care of the local authority placed in external agency provision.
- Children with statements of educational needs placed with Independent and Non-maintained Special Schools
- Bespoke contracts for services that support Fostering, Adoption, Consultancy services.

Skills and Experience we are looking for:
- Excellent IT skills, which includes the use of Microsoft packages.
- An ability to work as part of a team undertaking a wide range of administrative duties.
- Experience of working in a busy office environment.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- An ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- An ability to interpret information and analyse data.
- An ability to work within organisational policies and procedures.
- A proactive approach to changes.
- An ability to assist and support with streamlining process and implementation
- An understanding of confidentiality, GDPR and Data Protection.
- An ability to supervise staff
- Previous financial experience would be beneficial.
- NVQ Level 2 qualification or relevant office experience.
- Enthusiasm and transferable skills
