Salary/Grade: £28,418 to £30,955 per annum / Grade 5

Hours/Days: 37 hours per week

We are looking to recruit a Governance and Civic Officer to our small but hard-working team who manage the Council’s democratic processes and support the civic functions of the Council.  The service requires an enthusiastic person to work alongside Councillors, senior officers, parish and town councils and members of the public.

 

In this role you will be expected to support a range of committee meetings, as well as organising and assisting with civic events.

 

The successful candidate will need to be approachable, be an excellent communicator, have the ability to solve problems and work under minimal supervision.  Attention to detail is essential and you will need to manage a varied workload.

 

The ability to occasionally work unsocial/out of hours events or evening meetings is required.

 

To be successful you will need:

  • Knowledge of, and an interest in, local authority decision-making
  • The ability to approach politically sensitive issues with diplomacy and tact
  • The ability to produce accurate minutes
  • The ability to work to deadlines
  • A great attention to detail
