We are looking for a dedicated and driven individual to join our brand-new team at Derbyshire County Council as a Senior Commissioning and Contracts Officer. If you are passionate about improving public services and have experience in managing contracts, we want to hear from you!
About the Role:
As a Senior Commissioning and Contracts Officer, you will support the planning and commissioning of transport services, ensuring that all services provided are efficient, safe, and high-quality. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including internal departments, transport providers, and service users, to ensure that contractual obligations are met, and service standards maintained. You will collaborate with other colleagues across the passenger transport functions of the Council to review and implement change management and introduce new systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the commissioning of transport services across the Council, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
- Monitor contract performance and carry out audits and inspections.
- Liaise with transport providers to address any issues related to service delivery.
- Assist in the preparation of tenders and the assessment of bids.
- Ensure all services are cost-effective while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Manage financial resources, payment processes and budgetary responsibility.
- Manage and motivate the team to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in contract management and commissioning, ideally within the transport sector.
- Strong communication, problem solving and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
- An understanding of compliance, auditing, and performance monitoring.
- Proficiency in IT systems for managing contracts and procurement processes.
- Experience in financial management and budgetary control.
