Ashgate Croft is a large and complex area special school. We provide education and care for pupils with significant learning difficulties, including autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties and associated communication, behavioural and physical needs.
The post is for a Permanent Class Teacher (part time posts will be considered for the right applicant), the successful candidate will be responsible for the teaching and well-being of a class of pupils with learning difficulties, communication needs and behaviour that challenges, pupils may also have physical and medical needs. The class teacher may be required to teach any age group (4-19) and in any of the four pathways (Please see attached Curriculum Policy for more details about the Curriculum that we follow).
You should –
- Have successful teaching experience in either a mainstream or special school setting;
- Have excellent interpersonal skills;
- Have sound knowledge and experience of working with pupils with SEN;
- Have a positive approach to challenge and change

Unqualified Teachers on the pathway to being qualified will be considered; however, you must have significant experience of undertaking all aspects of the role of a class teacher in a special school.
