It is a really exciting time in the academy’s development as we look to expand our provision, enhance the curriculum offer and build a reputation as the alternative provider of choice in the County.

We have made some really exciting appointments at a time where recruitment presents it challenges and we are now looking to offer another full -time permanent contract for a Teacher to join our academy.

We are looking to recruit an experienced and inspiring primary teacher to join our academy to teach our primary pupils.

The staffing team is small compared to a mainstream school and this post is available to develop a new primary offer in the north of the county at our current site in Chapel-en-le-frith. The Barrow Hill Primary site consists of 2 Primary Leads, 2 Teachers and 5 TA's. The primary offer expanded from Chesterfield to the High Peak site for Sept 24 with one Primary Teacher and 3 TA's.

We are now looking for a second Teacher and an additional TA to complete the team. We offer a variety of timetables for pupils depending on age and need. Classes will be small and may have approximately 4-6 pupils in each. The timetable will allow for some pupils to be taught via one to one and some pupils will attend site for half days and have home teaching for the other half. The post will suit an experienced teacher who is willing to be flexible to meet the needs of the pupils and the academy. We review our offer depending on pupil numbers and their needs, and we make frequent changes to ensure that the site can meet the needs of the pupils that are on roll. We welcome applications from candidates who are able to teach engaging and inspiring lessons to challenging and disengaged primary pupils. Our curriculum includes, maths, English, reading, science, PHRE and nurture activities based on Boxall strand development.

Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in a school or other alternative setting. An affinity for pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties is an essential quality for this challenging but rewarding opportunity. Applicants should be resilient, have high expectations, and a sense of humour. You must be able to build positive relationships with our pupils and think outside of the box. You will be responsible for contributing to a small staffing team to ensure that the site runs smoothly. A growth mindset and positive ethos are essential characteristics that we are looking for.

An allocated base will be named for payment of mileage and any travel calculation between sites for CPD or for engaging in off -site rewards trips etc. Candidates must have access to a vehicle and car insurance with business use included.

Benefits include: Teachers’ Pension Scheme, Westfield Health membership, academy laptop.
