Are you looking for your next teaching opportunity?

The Governing Board of Bamford Primary School is delighted to invite applications for the role of Class Teacher to join our friendly and dedicated team.

Due to the promotion of one of our teachers, we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated teacher to join our small, thriving rural primary school. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 31 August 2027, with the potential for permanency in the future. The post is available as soon as possible.

Initially, the successful candidate will teach within a mixed-age Key Stage 2 class, working ideally with Years 5 and 6 pupils. However, we are keen to appoint the right person and are open to discussing class allocation based on experience, strengths and the needs of the school.

Bamford Primary School is situated in the heart of the Peak District National Park and is proud to be part of The Peak Federation alongside Grindleford Primary School. Together, we work collaboratively to provide the very best opportunities for our pupils, staff and wider community.

This role would be particularly suited to an Early Career Teacher looking to begin their teaching career within a supportive and nurturing environment, or a recently qualified teacher seeking their next challenge. Full support will be provided for ECT induction where appropriate, alongside access to a range of professional development opportunities through our Federation and wider networks.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner or has the potential to become one
  • Has experience of, or an interest in, teaching within Key Stage 2
  • Is committed to ensuring high levels of achievement and progress for all pupils
  • Has high expectations whilst creating a warm, engaging and inclusive classroom environment
  • Is committed to supporting the needs of all learners, including those with SEND
  • Works effectively as part of a team whilst also demonstrating initiative and independence
  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
  • Has enthusiasm, energy, resilience and a genuine passion for working with children

Experience of teaching in mixed-age classes or working across more than one key stage would be desirable, but is not essential.

As part of the role, you will:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality learning experiences that inspire and challenge pupils
  • Assess, monitor and support pupil progress to ensure every child reaches their potential
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and our rural community
  • Lead or support an area of the curriculum appropriate to your experience and interests
  • Promote the highest standards of safeguarding, inclusion and pupil wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across The Peak Federation

What we can offer:

  • Friendly, enthusiastic pupils who enjoy learning
  • A welcoming and supportive staff team
  • High-quality mentoring / support for ECTs
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression
  • Collaborative working across our Federation schools
  • A beautiful rural setting within the Peak District National Park
  • A school community that values wellbeing, teamwork and a healthy sense of humour

As a small rural school, we value colleagues who are willing to immerse themselves in all aspects of school life. Flexibility, enthusiasm and a hands-on approach are highly valued, alongside a commitment to helping every child succeed. Above all, we are looking for a team player with a positive outlook, a genuine "can-do" attitude and a willingness to embrace everything that makes our school special. A warm coat is highly recommended!

Bamford Primary School was judged Good by Ofsted in April 2022 and was recently inspected again in July 2026, with the report due to be published in September 2026.

Bamford Primary School is located within reasonable commuting distance of Sheffield, Matlock, Bakewell, Glossop and Stockport. Whilst a driving licence is not essential, applicants should be aware that public transport links to the village are limited.
