We have a fulfilling and rewarding opportunity for a talented and researched-based practitioner to take on the role of Assistant Headteacher from September 2026. The successful person will be an integral member of the school’s leadership team and work closely with our Deputy Headteacher and the Headteacher in continuing to embed the school’s vision and therefore further precipitate a culture of higher expectations for all children.
Responsibility and placement in school will be allocated to the candidates’ strengths but it is initially anticipated that the successful candidate will be the strategic lead for developing Teaching & Learning across the school, alongside responsibility for Phonics and Early Reading and the mentoring of newly qualified teachers, students and volunteers. This is in additional to supporting the operational day-to-day running.
In recent years, the school has made substantial progress under a new name and new set of values. This is all leading to a rapid turnaround in outcomes and practice around the school and we are proud of just how far we have come. As we approach the next phase of this journey, we require someone who:
We require somebody who:
- Can model high quality approaches within their own classroom whilst at the same time pioneering research-based principles and practice across the whole school
- Can coach, guide and influence their colleagues in the most positive and professional of ways
- Is able to hold high standards and engage in sensitive conversations when standards fall short or challenges arise
- Can build productive and professional relationships with all personalities whilst maintaining a healthy distance to carry out the role effectively
- Has a measured disposition around school and can be relied upon to respond to day-to-day challenges or queries and find solutions calmly
- Is organised, efficient and consistent in carrying out their professional duties
- Embraces the principles of effective team working
We can offer you:
- Well-behaved children who appreciate all that we do
- Appreciative families where the smallest things make a big difference
- Weekly management time to support with strategic responsibilities
- An approachable Headteacher who is committed to professional development opportunities in all forms
It is a very exciting time to join our school as roles and responsibilities are recalibrating and the leadership attributes required from senior staff at this time are much changed from when the Headteacher first arrived at the school back in January 2021. Visits to the school are warmly welcome and a place can be booked by contacting the school and asking for Viccie Swain.
Dates to Visit: Friday 1st May @ 3:45 pm, Wednesday 6th May @ 10:30 am, Friday 8th May @ 10 am, Monday 11th May @ 1:30 pm, Tuesday 12th May @ 1:30 pm
Closing Date: Wednesday 13th May 2026 @ 3 pm (Applications straight to the school)
Shortlisting: Friday 15th May 2026
Possible Interview Date: Wednesday 20th May 2026
