Governors are seeking applications from a highly-motivated and successful school leader to be the Head of School of Copthorne Community Infant School.
The successful candidate must have experience of school evaluation, strategic decision making and leading initiatives to bring about improvement.
Copthorne is a small Infant School, in the centre of Alfreton and we pride ourselves on being committed to preparing children for their future by providing a fun and enriching curriculum. Our motto is ‘Every Day a New Adventure.’
The school is part of Unity Federation, which is a small federation of two schools with one Executive Head Teacher and a Head of School in each school. This would be a great opportunity for anyone looking to increase their leadership experience, while having support from the Executive Head Teacher.
The position does not have a class responsibility and there are no internal candidates. The position is full time, with support from the Executive Head on Mondays.
The governors are seeking applicants who have experience of a wide range of subject areas, as well as Safeguarding, Assessment and Pupil Premium.
Due to potential changes in staffing this is a fixed term position for one year.
Copthorne offers a warm and friendly learning environment with a dedicated, professional and supportive staff team. Please look at our website www.copthorneinfants.org.uk to learn more about our school.
The successful candidate will join our staff from 1 September 2026, so please ensure that your governing body would support a secondment before applying.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Please contact Kay Fletcher, current Head of School, on 01773 832632 to book.
Provisional Interview Date: Thursday 11 June 2026
