Service Development Officer (1 FTE post) – Stop Smoking 


An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Public Health department to support the work of the Health Improvement Team. 


We are recruiting a Service Development Officer to join our Live Life Better Derbyshire (LLBD) service, which supports people to identify and address their holistic wellbeing needs and provides weight management, smoking cessation, physical activity, health checks, community health improvement, hypertension services across Derbyshire and delivers the National Childhood Measurement Programme.  This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and growing service.


You will support the existing Service Development Officers to offer additional capacity to drive the service forward.  You will be responsible for managing a team of Health Improvement Advisors and supporting locality work.  You will be supported by a Service Manager and will play a key role in developing the service.
Your role will include:
•    Conducting risk assessments and developing health and safety procedures
•    Engagement and promotion of the service with partners and stakeholders
•    Working within localities to better understand the needs of communities and how we can support them to make lifestyle changes
•    Audits of the service to identify any areas for improvement
•    Other projects to support development of the LLBD service

The job may require unsocial hours working including weekends and Bank Holidays. Payment arrangements will be detailed in any contract offer made.

Saturday and Sunday hours will be paid at plain time where it is part of your normal working pattern unless it is between 7pm and 7am, where enhanced rates of pay apply. Enhanced pay rates are paid for Bank Holiday working.
