Derbyshire County Council Public Health has a fantastic Supported Employment team where we are building on employer engagement to support people with disabilities and long-term health conditions into employment. We are creating pathways, giving training, and raising awareness with employers to support those with the biggest gaps in employment rates. This work sits within the Wider Determinants of Health team and supports the development and implementation of work linking to the Council’s Public Health strategy.

Working within the team, the post holder will support with the necessary admin work to engage with employers to create real pathways and influence wider change. We work with businesses, CICs and charities as well as community and public health partners and stakeholders and this role supports in a hands-on manner with these tasks.

The right candidate needs to be able to demonstrate initiative and that they are passionate about reducing health inequalities – especially for those with disabilities - and promoting wellbeing in Derbyshire. We really value lived experience of disability, neurodivergence and health conditions and this is reflected in the hybrid nature of the role and flexible working hours.  

Work will include: -

  • Supporting the team to develop employer engagement networks and create pathways to employment.
  • Supporting with delivering workshops, sessions and activities for employers on removing barriers to employment.
  • Working with the Supported Employment team to determine local employment needs and opportunities
  • Managing calendars, mailing lists and supporting in meetings to take recordings, minutes, send out agendas 
  • Helping to organise project plans and ensuring that actions are delivered.
  • Co-ordinating data and maintaining GDPR as directed by HIP
  • Promoting the work of the Public Health department, assisting with data collection including providing case studies, drafting reports and developing publicity materials.
  • Supporting the team generally with our work alongside colleagues, partners and stakeholders including local employers, CICs and charities to influence and address the wider social determinants of health leading to good work.
