Derbyshire County Council Welfare Rights Service is committed to maximising the benefits of Derbyshire people. We have several teams who work to support social care clients and the wider public to promote and support benefit take-up.
An opportunity has arisen in our Fieldwork Team. This Team focuses on supporting all residents of Derbyshire to maximise their benefit entitlement. There is currently one full time post available on a temporary contract until March 2024.
If you are a client focussed person with excellent communication skills and experience of dealing with members of the public and other professionals, then this role could be ideal.
The role involves undertaking benefit checks and supporting residents to make claims over the telephone and face to face in clients’ homes as appropriate. The post holder will have strong working experience and knowledge of the benefits system, particular with Attendance Allowance, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, and Pension Credit. The role will require liaison with the Department for Work and Pension and local government to ensure claims are progressed.
The post is based in Clowne Derbyshire, but the team cover all of Derbyshire, which will require occasional travel across the county.
Provisional Interview Date: 15 June 2023
Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
