An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Estates Team at Derbyshire County Council for a dynamic and committed individual to support the council’s Corporate Property objectives. 

 Derbyshire County Council is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Estates Technician - you will form part of the Estates Management Team supporting the Senior Estates Manager and Estates Surveyors in providing the Council with professional and technical advice on real estate issues to senior managers and client departments, along with managing the Council’s property portfolio to promote best value in the use of Derbyshire County Council’s land and property assets.

You will be joining a team of eager and ambitious Property Professionals and have a manager who is supportive and keen to facilitate your development.

Based in one of England’s most beautiful areas, including the Peak District National Park, with flexibility as to the mix of home working and from offices based in picturesque Matlock and across the County. 

What will I be doing:

 With an extensive portfolio ranging from schools to country parks, industrial estates to offices, highway land to agricultural sites, no two days are the same! Please take a look at our comprehensive job profile for more detail.

What skills and experience do you need to have:

  • Experience of property portfolio management.
  • Experience of team working within a professional property environment.
  • Experience of the collection and collation of financial information relating to property.
  • The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Good presentational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle a personal caseload competently with the minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Ability and confidence to work alone at various locations around the county in accordance with the Council’s Lone Working Policy.
  • Good organisational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to understand complex issues, using innovative thinking towards problem solving.
  • Ability to use computerised systems and databases including the use of Microsoft Office and other real estate software.
  • An understanding of the effect of local market conditions.
  • Awareness of Fire Safety, Health & Safety legislation, and Asbestos Regulations.
