Derbyshire County Council is seeking to appoint a motivated, organised and professional Estates and Disposals Technician to support the management, valuation and disposal of the Council's land, buildings and surplus asset portfolio.
Working within the Corporate Property Service, you will play an important role in helping the Council maximise the value of its property assets while supporting the efficient delivery of estate management and disposals functions. You will work closely with Estates Surveyors, Disposals Managers and Asset Management colleagues, providing both technical and administrative support across a varied and interesting workload.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in property, estates, asset management, technical administration or a related field who is looking to further develop their knowledge and experience within a professional property environment.
What will I be doing?
As an Estates and Disposals Technician, you will:
- Support the management, valuation and disposal of the Council's land and property assets.
- Assist with property acquisitions, lettings, lease renewals, rent reviews and disposals.
- Undertake property inspections, condition surveys and site visits.
- Assist with the preparation and administration of leases, licences and other legal agreements.
- Maintain accurate property records and asset information using corporate systems and digital mapping tools.
- Analyse and report on property, financial and performance data.
- Manage an individual caseload of property and disposals work.
- Coordinate activities with tenants, contractors, agents, solicitors, internal stakeholders and members of the public.
- Investigate and respond to property-related enquiries.
- Support the preparation of reports, plans, drawings and project documentation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, processes and service delivery.
What skills and experience do you need?
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience within a property, estates, land, asset management or technical environment, or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience of working with data, records and computerised systems.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to explain technical information clearly and confidently.
- A professional and customer-focused approach.
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively as part of a team.
- An interest in property and estate management.
Essential Qualifications
- Relevant HND/HNC qualification (or equivalent) with appropriate experience, or relevant practical knowledge gained through formal training and significant job experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Other Requirements
- Current UK compliant driving licence.
- Own transport, or the ability to travel across Derbyshire to attend meetings, inspections and site visits.

The role is contractually based in Matlock, Derbyshire. As part of our Modern Ways of Working programme, hybrid working arrangements are available subject to service requirements and can be discussed further at interview.
