The delivery of key housing and employment sites is a top priority for the Derbyshire Dales.  So we’ve created a new Regeneration and Place Team to drive investment in strategic sites.

The Derbyshire Dales has a wealth of stunning landscapes, beautiful market towns, picturesque villages, flourishing communities, innovative businesses historic buildings, over 1325 are listed buildings; conservation areas; archaeological sites and monuments plus historic parks and gardens – ours is truly a special place to work and live.

As Senior Regeneration Officer you will play a key role in the development and implementation of regeneration schemes. Accelerating the delivery of stalled sites is a priority, so we’ve created a fund to carry out feasibility studies, site investigations, options appraisals and masterplans to help bring these forward in partnership with private landowners.

This role is broad and you’ll be involved in stakeholder consultation, partnership development, master-planning, preparing external funding bids, procurement, contract management and project implementation.

We have ambitious proposals for Ashbourne town centre – Ashbourne Reborn funded through the Government’s Levelling Up Fund – and regeneration projects in Matlock but we also need to develop other ‘shovel ready’ projects to access new external funding streams such as through the East Midlands Combined County Authority.

If you have at least three years’ experience of working on / implementing regeneration projects in a local authority context and meet the other essential requirements of the role then we want to hear from you.

We have a strong ‘One Team, One Council’ culture.  Alongside the excellent quality of life, we can offer you the opportunity to further develop your career within an excellent and family friendly authority, with the benefits of hybrid working, flexitime, free staff car parking at Matlock Town Hall, and a confidential counselling service. That’s possibly why 87% of our staff feel supported, 85% are satisfied with the District Council as an employer, and 88% know their role contributes to high quality services in the Derbyshire Dales (Staff Survey 2023).
