We are seeking to appoint a leader for our Planning Policy team who is looking for an opportunity to join our organisation at what is both an exciting and crucial time for the District. It would suit someone looking for a challenge and will provide in return invaluable experience and enhance their career in strategic planning.
Located at the heart of the National Forest, with a wealth of historic buildings and pleasant countryside, South Derbyshire is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Our planning policies will need to balance the requirement for new homes and employment with protection of those qualities that make the area such a desirable place to live, work and invest.
The successful candidate will need to take forward our Local Plan review, which is currently underway. The team leader will regularly engage with Members and cooperate across boundaries with our partners, working in accordance with the revised NPPF.
We are looking for a flexible and creative officer with excellent communication skills who can lead a small and experienced team of planning policy officers. A commitment to continuous improvement of service delivery and partnership working will be essential. You will be an MRTPI qualified town planner with at least five years post qualification experience of policy formulation and implementation.
