Job Details and Requirements
North East Derbyshire District Council is inviting applications for a Swimming Teacher to join our successful Leisure Services Team.
The post is to deliver swimming lessons to all ages & abilities in accordance with the Council’s swimming tuition programme. To be successful, applicants will require the Swim England (SE) or STA Level 2 teaching certificate, the RLSS NPLQ (9th Edition) or RLSS NRASTC or willing to work towards completing this qualification, together with knowledge and experience of either the SE or STA Swimming Teaching programmes.
The post is 20.5 hours a week to cover maternity leave. The Council allow time for lesson preparation and clearing up for 15 minutes both prior to and following lessons. The successful candidate must be willing to work evenings & weekends in line with our popular teaching programme.
The working hours* are:
- Wednesday: 12.15 – 7.45pm
- Thursday: 3.45 – 7.45pm
- Friday: 3.45 – 7.45pm
- Saturday 8.15am – 1.15pm
*Please note that these hours include paid lesson set up/down time & admin time.

The postholder is subject to a Disclosure carried out by the DBS at the Enhanced Level, due to the nature of the role.
The post is normally based at Dronfield Active but the successful candidate must be willing to work at any of the council’s establishments should the need arise.
