NEDDC are recruiting for a Senior Scrutiny Officer to join our team.

Our aim here is to really help you to settle into the role and to develop our scrutiny process so that it can play a key part in helping to ensure that the Council is successfully working towards its key goals and targets.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic person with excellent communication skills to join our small but perfectly formed Governance team.
Whilst Local Authority experience is essential, we welcome applicants who have relevant skills and scrutiny experience obtained through the private or public sector as well as the Local Authority experience.
Guiding the Council’s Scrutiny Committees through their work will cover a wide range of matters from involvement in the development and monitoring of the Council’s evolving Council Plan to Policy Development and Performance monitoring. All with the aim of improving the Council’s performance. As part of the in house Governance team you will play a key part, in co-operation with the Council’s Senior Management Team and elected Members, in helping to shape and ensure the success of the North East Derbyshire District Council’s Scrutiny work.
About you
We are looking for fresh thinking and enthusiastic individuals who have a team player approach, in providing a high quality Scrutiny role.
You should have a sound understanding of the Scrutiny function, reliable judgment and strong experience of dealing with Members.
