We are looking for a motivated person to join our housing responsive repairs team. You will be working with a busy team which carries out repairs and improvements across a diverse range of occupied and vacant properties across South Derbyshire.

We need someone who can support their team to deliver a ‘right first time’ approach whilst exceeding our customers’ expectations.

We pride ourselves on high standards of workmanship and work with safety at the forefront of everything we do.

Flexibility is key as you will be required to be available for call out /stand by duties. A full driving license is required.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role are:

  • To deliver quality workmanship for your core trade of Bricklayer and without close supervision
  • Have working knowledge of NatFed SOR codes or similar
  • Meet appointments as agreed with tenants Ensure the safe, effective use of tools and plant ensuring they are regularly maintained and serviced, and supervisor is notified of any loss or damage
  • Carry out dynamic risk assessments, reporting bad practice and dangerous occurrences to supervisor
  • Take responsibility for supervising apprentices if assigned and the quality of their work.
  • Assessing property deficiencies that are the landlords responsibilities especially those related to damp and mould.

The successful candidates will have the following:

  • Substantial experience in the building industry to acquire the skills and techniques for the trade of Bricklayer and multi-skilled areas of other trades,
  • City and Guilds qualification up to (NVQ level 3) or relevant experience in one trade and others
  • Holder of relevant current construction skills certification scheme CSCS site operative card (or willing to undertake inhouse H and S Test)
  • Ability to prioritise work loads
  • Good time keeper with organisation and planning skills including strategic thinking and priority setting
  • Full driving licence as a work van will be provided.

A good knowledge or experience of local authority housing repairs is desirable.
