An opportunity has arisen for a versatile operative to work in the Clean and Green team at Derbyshire Dales District Council as a clean & Green assistant. The post will suit someone who likes working outdoors helping to maintain the districts wealth of stunning landscapes picturesque villages and historic parks. 

The successful candidate will hold a valid driving licence. The operative will be expected to drive a range of vehicles including Transit tippers and will be able to do manual work including, removal of fly tipped waste, verge grass mowing. The position is based at Northwood Depot, Darley Dale. 

The operative will undertake a broad range of green space and public realm maintenance and development work in accordance with best practise and specified standards set by the Council. Examples include, assisting with the preparation of graves and their reinstatement, decorative horticulture, soft landscaping, amenity grass maintenance, shrub bed maintenance, fine turf maintenance. The operative will be able to utilise a range of vehicles, plant and equipment, some of which will be of a specialist nature (training will be provided). 

The appointment will be subject to a satisfactory medical assessment and driving assessment. 

The right candidate will be enthusiastic, able to use their own initiative and be comfortable speaking to the public if approached. 

The post includes:

  • 25 days leave per year plus bank holidays (rising to 29 days after 5 years’ service)
