The Glapwell Centre is a centre for community activities. It provides access to education, training, health support, employment information, fitness centre, youth and leisure activity for all the residents of Glapwell Parish. It also provides a venue for meetings and conferences. The Manager will be expected to oversee and maximise all these activities, maintaining and increasing community use and the income from commercial lettings. The Manager will be expected to work flexible hours according to the needs of the programme and will be responsible to the Parish Council and the Centre Charity trustees. The Manager is also responsible (subject to review) for bookings and invoicing on the Council’s football ground and MUGA at Hall Corner.

There are 3 additional employees - 1 Caretaker/Handyman, 1 caretaker/cleaner and 1 Street cleaner. 

Located at The Glapwell Centre, The Green, Glapwell

30 hours per week including unsociable hours (maybe more subject to review)

TOIL (time off in lieu) for additional hours worked

Salary on SP pt 10: equal to £13.28 per hour

Post subject to 6 month’s probation

This post will require a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) 


Responsible to the Council and the Charity Trustees for the running of the Centre, and its on site staff.

Day to day management of centre including all administration, staff, maintenance and catering

Maintaining and developing use by community groups

Managing lettings and organising events

Managing the provision of educational, training and social activities for all age groups

Maintaining and developing the use of all facilities in the Centre and maintaining contact with appropriate providers

Maintaining and developing connections with all relevant outside bodies, including sports, community and education

Overseeing the development of a marketing programme to increase business lettings and corporate use

Maintaining accurate administrative, financial and attendance records

Responsible for compliance with all legislative requirements including Health and Safety, Child Protection, Data Protection and Equal Opportunities

A knowledge of the local area and an understanding of the issues for the local community would be an advantage. The Council are willing to consider the employment of additional persons, with appropriate skills, to undertake, with management, some of the elements of the job, where, in their opinion, this would be beneficial to and support the right candidate.
