This is for a casual position and therefore has no fixed hours. Most coaching opportunities are during school holiday periods (during the day) and throughout the year in the evenings.
Derbyshire Dales District Council are recruiting Casual Assistant Sports Coaches to support the delivery of a number of sports activities across the district. Programmes include school holiday activities, sports camps, youth sports activities, and youth diversionary sessions. We are looking for an innovative and dedicated individual to support the lead coaches to deliver fun and exciting sessions.
It is important that potential candidates are enthusiastic about developing active children, bringing fun and exciting ideas to the team. We’re looking for great communication skills, lots of energy and a proactive approach that will positively enhance children’s experience of sport and physical activity. Applicants need to be passionate about sports and physical activity and know how to have fun – if the coaches are having fun, so are the children.
We are looking for assistant coaches who are reliable, supportive, and great communicators who can engage with people across all ages. We welcome applications from those who thrive on new challenges and the opportunity to make change, while demonstrating empathy and understanding of challenges and barriers to participation.
The successful candidate will have a passion for sport and will have taken part in a variety of sports themselves. They will have knowledge and experience of assisting with the delivery of engaging activity sessions and working collaboratively with other coaches and volunteers.
There may be opportunities to gain on the job training and qualifications to upskill to become a qualified (Lead) sports coach for the right candidate.
The Sports Development team is part of the Community Development department in the District Council Offices, Matlock. The role will be delivering sports and activities out across the district mainly in the 4 market towns (Matlock, Bakewell, Wirksworth and Ashbourne).
