Exciting things are happening within the ICT Team at Derbyshire County Council and we’re looking for an End user Devices Engineer to join our ICT Operations team.

A major review of our organisation and strategies has been completed and we have invested in new tools to support a comprehensive and innovative ICT transformation programme, to support the delivery of key services to the citizens and communities of Derbyshire. 

We now want to get on and deliver, this role will be pivotal in helping us deliver our transformation programme, as a key post within the ICT Operations Services function providing a technical lead across services. This includes supporting the Council’s New Ways of Working programme and ensuring that the Councils services are fit for purpose, so it is an excellent opportunity for someone who has significant experience of operating at a senior level in a large ICT Service environment, managing and delivering change and who really wants to make a difference.

What will you be doing?

  • You will be working with a varied range of device management platforms including
    • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
    • Microsoft Intune
    • Microsoft 365 Defender
    • Samsung Knox
    • Group Policy
  • Support, administer and configure the Councils ICT platforms and services related to end user devices.
  • Working closely with service owners and service users to identify and develop solutions for problems
    • Providing 3rd line ICT System support  
    • Resolving problems in a logical and process driven manner 
    • Create and promote a continuous improvement culture, high-performance and collaborative approach to working
  • Utilising the countless opportunities to apply your knowledge and work as part of a multi-disciplined team

 What skills, knowledge and experience do you need??

  • Knowledge and experience in configuring and managing Desktop and Mobile Devices.
    • Windows 10
    • Android Phones and Tablets
  • Technical/Administrative working knowledge of Managing Windows endpoints via a combination of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365 Defender, including security and deployment of software and updates.
  • Technical working knowledge of software packaging and deployment within Configuration Manager and ideally experience of InstallShield (AdminStudio)
  • Knowledge and experience in configuring Android (fully managed) + iOS devices in InTune and Samsung Knox
  • Knowledge and experience in configuring corporate applications on non-corporate managed (BYO) devices
  • Knowledge of PowerShell and PowerShell scripting
  • Experience troubleshooting complex problems
  • Ideally knowledge of Azure Virtual Desktop
  • A passion for providing excellent customer service
  • Polite, confident, and effective communicator
